Allgemeine Informationen

We are launching this project in Goteo to raise funds in order to achieve a wider dissemination of the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) for an Unconditional Basic Income.

We need to disseminate, produce materials and advertise this ECI to reach as many people as possible.
We aim to get as many people as possible to know about this European campaign and to support it with their financial contribution and their signature.
We thank you for your help and diffusion of this important social measure which is the Unconditional Basic Income.

Hauptmerkmale

Our goal is to obtain 1 million signatures before June 25, 2022, in order to be able to submit to the European Commission and Parliament the proposal for the implementation of unconditional basic incomes throughout the EU, as well as to encourage the debate on the Unconditional Basic Income to understand the personal and social scope of this economic measure that would contribute to a major paradigm shift.

An unconditional basic income is a monetary allocation to the entire population, regardless of their economic or employment situation. It differs from other benefits in that it is** unconditional, universal, individual and sufficient.

  • Unconditional**: It is not conditional on a given situation. We will all receive it unconditionally.
  • Individual**: The allocation is to each person, not to the group, nor to the cohabitation unit nor to the family unit.
  • Sufficient**: In order to cover basic needs, the amount must be at least the amount of the poverty threshold. According to the calculations of the European Institute of Statistics, in Spain it is approximately 800 euros.

Warum das wichtig ist

We live in an economicist, violent system that fosters inequality and inequity, and the structuring of social classes, discrimination against women because they are women, against young people, against people with functional diversity, against the elderly, and against all those who are not potentially usable for the benefit of those who have appropriated the means of production.

The anti-values that sustain this order of things are the supposed merits of those who have privileged positions, the individualism cultivated for decades that pretended to respect the identity of each person, when in reality it was annulling and submerging their lives in a merciless competitiveness, the reification disguised by terms such as "employability", "resilience", "reinventing oneself", which, in a veiled way, blames their situation on those who do not manage to join the productive fabric....

There is no equality of opportunity, and the starting point is grossly unequal. In this scheme, the freedom and the right to life that are recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Constitutions are simply a lie, because those who lack the most elementary resources necessary for life and who have to devote all their time to subsistence cannot be free.

In the midst of this situation, accelerated technological progress optimizes the production of goods and services. This fact would be a liberating blessing for humanity, if it were not for the unfortunate organization and values that prevent the distribution of these resources, which are more than enough to cover the needs of all people.

The growing inequality exacerbated by the economic crisis of 2008, the Covid pandemic and the very dynamics of concentration of wealth in fewer and fewer hands, typical of capitalism, makes it urgent to implement a universal, unconditional, sufficient and lifelong monetary allocation.

The RBI is a new form of wealth distribution, which is the product of the efforts of all previous and current generations. Although the RBI is aimed at everyone (it is universal), it will especially benefit those who have suffered the most from the crisis: women, young people and people who are unemployed or in precarious jobs, etc.(https://drive.google.com/file/d/14EChq62Tcb8Db_7E7IJvS4CmcCa3uwN4/view?usp=sharing)

Team und Erfahrung

Since 2001 there has been an association in Spain called Red Renta Básica (Basic Income Network), based at the University of Barcelona, which has been organizing symposiums and carrying out feasibility and financing studies.

Since the 1980s, there has also been an international network called Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN) and continental and national platforms all over the world.

In 2012 a group of supporters of the Unconditional Basic Income from different European countries launched a first European Citizens' Initiative, and in 2013 in Spain the first ILP was promoted. The aim was to generate debate and raise awareness of the concept of Unconditional Basic Income. And indeed, the debate was gradually taking hold in the assemblies and areas of exchange, especially in the embers of the 15M.

In April 2020, pro-unconditional basic income activists constituted themselves in the European Citizens' Committee and processed an ECI proposal, which was admitted to launch the collection of signatures in May 2020 and launched in September of the same year.

In order to promote the campaign, the Eureka Platform was created in Spain, of which 38 organizations and many individuals are currently members: https://rentabasicaincondicional.eu/colectivos/.

At the moment, we coordinate through Telegram working groups and there are different activist nuclei in different locations in Spain. We have a website (https://rentabasicaincondicional.eu/), with several profiles in different social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube etc.), video, audio and poster productions, etc.

We hold periodic assemblies and organize face-to-face and virtual events.
