Allgemeine Informationen
Action for Wildlife is the only organization in the Region of Central Macedonia that deals with the care and reintegration of wild animals.
Active as an association since 2009 treats 2000 birds, small mammals, and reptiles per year , and is supported by donations.
To expand its scope and improve the treatment that it provides, Action for Wildlife needs your support!
The crowdfunding campaign aims to offer better treatment to wildlife through:
- the development of new infrastructure
- the procurement of appropriate equipment and consumables for the care of hospitalized animals.
The project will make it easier and more effective to restore the health of seabirds that have been polluted by oil or grease.
The shelter mainly supports wild animals that live in the Delta of the rivers Axios, Gallikos, but also accepts animals from all over Northern Greece.
Hauptmerkmale
Action for Wildlife has a very clear plan about what will be improved with your support. All actions address needs that were identified through the team's years of experience in wildlife treatment and reintegration.
With support Action for Wildlife will:
-
Procure and install appropriate equipment for cleaning oiled/greased birds. For this purpose, we will repurpose existing space in our facilities. The action includes the procurement of a suitable type of sink for large and medium-sized birds, water heater, re-plumbing, anti-slip floor, drying area with thermometers and electric blankets.
-
Creation of a cage for the restoration of health and reintegration of medium-sized mammals (fox, jackal, badger). It will have dimensions of about 4 meters wide, 10 meters long and 3.5 meters high.
-
Procure consumables (medicines, para-pharmaceuticals, food) for the care of the animals under treatment.
-
Install an elevated tank for water collection in order to fill the lakes of aquatic birds. The tank will have a capacity of 3000-5000 litres and will be placed in a base that will be constructed for this purpose. The action also included the relevant components for installation (pipes, valves, etc.).
-
Install animal monitoring cameras in reintegration cages and artificial nests of mammals or birds.

Warum das wichtig ist
Action for Wildlife operates a wildlife hospital in Sindos, Thessaloniki, and as a group has a long-lasting presence. The need to support its actions is crucial since such cases cannot be treated elsewhere throughout the Region of Central Macedonia.
The actions have a critical direct impact on the well-being of the protection of wildlife since the group is supporting animals from all over Northern Greece. Action for Wildlife accepts animals from Evros and Limnos island, all the way to Corfu and Lefkada.
Additionally, the actions also have an indirect impact since the wildlife hospital provides outstanding opportunities for :
- educational activities, for all different levels.
- research
The installation of cameras will allow schoolchildren to monitor animals without being a disturbance to wildlife, while they can provide invaluable data for research purposes.
