Infrastructures and materials are one of the essential parts to give students and teachers the opportunity to put into practice civic behaviours, equality, and conflict management, so that we can print and distribute them. Therefore, we think that each school needs technological and technical equipment in order to gain free access to quality information in the digital age. The minimum budget for one school is 700 Euros, but for the effective realization of the optimal objective: three learning areas/clubs per 1 school, the budget would be 2100 Euros.

Teacher for implementing project
each teacher has the responsibility to invest more time and energy than normal if they are to regularly teach and share with students good practices of civic education. Through their actions on civic values and the practice of debate, children will increase their abilities/readiness to build a better future far from crime and violent behaviours. The teachers should be willing to discuss with us all phases and changes related with the new pedagogical material, and that means sharing their available time and efforts in the project. For all of these reasons, we need to encourage their participation and their availability with an additional, more than symbolic, compensation: 2 teachers for one club for one year would be 900 Euros. For our optimal goal, which would be 3 clubs for one year (6 teachers involved), this would be 2700 Euros.

Management
as in every experimental and innovative work, this project needs monitoring and coordination staff in order to qualify and quantify the actions and the achievements reached. Further to this, it needs to be addressed to the community involved in order to improve its own performance, day-to-day. All the activities would be related with an efficient communication with external and internal stakeholders. Thus, the management (administration and expenditure) is an important part of the project: the minimum objective would be 1200 Euros. The maximum objective would be 2800 Euros.

We want to provide one year's support to one school in the Mediterranean region, with a new method for teaching civic education through the daily practices of duties, rights, and responsibilities both inside and outside school. We will start with one school and then move onto another, and then another, and so on.
For the past two years, we have been working as part of a large program called "Forming Responsible Citizens (FRC)" alongside the Ministries of Education and local partners in Morocco and Tunisia. We have developed with them an assessment of how their citizens' education is taught and the strengths and weaknesses of its current teaching. As a result, we have produced some tools (new pedagogic material) to help teachers to go above and beyond. However, we have only been able to use the materials for a very short time, and in just a few pilot schools.
With your help, we will be able to finance the work in one school for one year. Thanks to you we will significantly increase the likelihood of new methods of teaching being implemented by secondary school teachers and school staff.
The future depends on our children. We are convinced that when a child is treated with respect and encouraged to use his/her imagination to pursue their dreams, that child then develops the necessary self-esteem and willpower to succeed in both their social and professional lives. We also believe that when a child is encouraged to participate in teamwork activities, and gets used to rules and the idea that differences and disagreements can be resolved through dialogue, that person will be able to contribute greatly to their family and neighbourhood, as well as to the betterment of their own future.
There are universal values that transcend any culture and it is the duty of all of us to facilitate every child's increased knowledge through everyday practices. Among those values are the equality of rights, shared duties and responsibilities among men and women, the irrelevance of race, physical features, religious beliefs, political persuasion or sexual orientation for this non-negotiable equality.

From new pedagogic material that we have developed, lessons learned and the synergies created between public and private bodies, the project “One year, One school” allows us to put into practice an education for citizens that responds to the needs of the present by promoting the acquisition of social, civic and intercultural competences. The project will be implemented in identified marginalized areas and will focus on vulnerable schools. Thus, the project is structured in three key thematic axes:
- Proactive and responsible citizenship
- Gender equality
- Conflict management
The work is done around juvenile clubs during school and after school hours. The teachers and school staff support also have three major components:
1) Capacity building/orientation for teachers and school personal to perform a responsible education for citizens, thanks to the pedagogical methodology of the program FRC. Teacher orientation sessions will be given to teachers from different backgrounds and areas of specialization such as history, geography, languages, maths, etc. (taking into account the context of each school).
2) The project promotes links and active exchange between schools and civic society through educational clubs/communities in each school where civic participation is activated and practiced, mainly focusing on violence prevention and gender equality. The activities of these educational clubs will be monitored by experts to adjust and adapt the material and to support teachers and civil society bodies in its achievements.
3) Finally, we will support schools by providing equipment and necessary pedagogical materials. The educational guides for activities already developed in each country will be distributed. In addition technical and technological capacity will be set up, allowing school communities to access their quality information in the digital age.

The project aims to improve the skills of children and young people to fully exercise the rights, duties, and responsibilities that correspond to their age, in line with article XII of the “Children's Rights Convention”.
“To ensure that the child who is capable of forming his or her own views, has the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child, and that the views of the child be given due weight in accordance with the age and maturity of the child.”
The schools chosen are the Lycée Technique de Makhtar, Siliana, - the Lycée Rue El Menzeh Beni Khalled, Nabeul and the Lycée 2 Mars 1934, Korba, in Tunisia and in the secondary school of -Khadija Oum Elmouminine, -Ibn Zaidoun and Lamssallah – Badre, in the area of Casablanca, Morocco.
These schools represent a range of backgrounds and geographies, being in both cities and rural areas. This project represents a practical solution for preparing young people for their future as active participants of the civic life of their societies. To fight violence and extremism we need to change factors that create fertile ground for radical ideologies, among them inequality and social exclusion, discrimination and radicalisation. And we need to contribute to youth empowerment and the positive role and socio-economic development of their societies by promoting education for citizens in vulnerable regions and targeted schools.

One year's support for one school will work on:
• Preparing young people for their future as active participants in their communities.
• Reducing greatly the likelihood of exclusion, radicalization and gender inequality.
• Strengthening the role of the school as a vehicle for the prevention of youth violence, gender inequality and discrimination.
• Strengthening the capacities and the role of teachers as civic promoters.
• Enhancing the active participation of students and their families in the school and in civic society activities.

The project aims to prevent juvenile violence and promote gender equality through the use of a new methodology for citizen education. Our team believes that practical activities and the study of society through the discovery and experience of teamwork, allow children to develop and improve their social skills in their present and future lives. It also reduces the likelihood of them committing crimes. Greater participation amongst children, teachers, parents and civil society communities in these activities means greater improvement in democratic practices in these territories.
