#NobodyWithoutLight

Energy poverty is becoming very real in this cold wave Filomena . The images of an absolutely snowy and isolated Cañada Real have gone around the world this weekend. A humanitarian crisis in the heart of the Madrid community that has led Olivier De Schutter, UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, to call Spain's attention for failing to comply with international treaties. A situation that we see repeated in Sant Roc (Badalona) or in the Raval neighborhood (Barcelona), coinciding with a 27% rise in the bill for a network that the cuts show obsolete.

For this reason, Fundación Goteo joins the more than 100 organizations that demand that the Government end the power cuts that are distributed throughout the State permanently or repeatedly in different parts of the Spanish territory and we celebrate the success of the campaign goteo.cc/acosocobradoresendesaajuicio (In which you can still collaborate!) By achieving the minimum objective that will lead to court for the first time the harassment suffered by vulnerable families for not being able to pay their electricity or gas bills, practices for which the energy company is responsible, by action or omission.

The subcontracting of alleged law firms or collection companies that, with extremely aggressive practices, pressure families to collect bills on behalf of the company is an abusive and illegal practice, which must be addressed and resolved by the courts. To achieve this, once again, we are filled with hope by the citizen drive to safeguard democratic quality and self-organize in the demand for justice, through #crowdvocacy or crowdfunding with a social objective through our platform. We continue to advance, thanks to the collective support.
